POEM: DEVOURED BUT TURNS SPLENDID

1.

Our lives are full of sorrows,

Rejection is what we get from our friends’ arrows,

Hope for betterment entails tomorrow,

Will this time in our distress come raw?

Life lies at the edge of paradise.

2.

All forms of disillusionments come our way,

We try to persevere, but we cannot stay,

Failures which devour our thinking make us sway,

Is it because our lives are now led astray?

Life lies at the edge of paradise.

3.

We try to look for solutions, but all is in vain,

We imagine being successful, but live to see others gain,

We meditate to see the furrows; it turns out to be a stain,

Does this mean that the whole of our life is on a drain?

Life lies at the edge of paradise.

4.

Our hearts decide, now to try and fulfill the will,

Investing in our fields is what we do still,

All-day long work, in determination to have our kill,

But why is there no harvest from what has been our kill?

Life lies at the edge of paradise.

5.

In all these, the Lord is beside us standing,

Looking at all that we have been withstanding,

Analyzing if our performance has been outstanding,

You don’t imagine that, but have you been understanding?

Life lies at the edge of paradise.

6.

At the end when hope is about to be lost, splendid performance flow,

In freshness and goodness, it comes to all slow,

And the people then see how the success glow,

You wonder, has it been the one I have been struggling to blow?

Life lies at the edge of paradise.
